Monthly Small Groups
Pastors in each cohort are part of a small group that meets monthly. During these gatherings, they engage in a variety of activities to pause from the busyness of their week and reflect upon their ministries and their own self-care, while garnering support and encouragement from one another.
Clergy regularly take part in interactive workshops based upon their desired topics, which include spirituality, self-care, financial creativity, preaching for this day, and church visioning.
Enriching Workshops
Fall Retreat
Each Fall the cohorts gather for a weekend retreat based upon topics that are uplifted by the pastors. In the Fall of 2022, we ventured to Spruce Lake to enjoy the outdoors and learn from Rev. Eustacia Moffett Marshall on how to lead congregations through visioning and change. It was a Spirit-filled time of fellowship, renewal, and learning.
Labyrinth & Lunch
One of our spiritual practices includes a trip to Swarthmore Presbyterian Church to walk their labyrinth. Led by our director, Rev. Sarah Colwill, participants learn about this spiritual practice and then, at their own pace, walk the labyrinth. We follow with lunch at a nearby restaurant.
Spring Retreat
Post-Easter, the pastors are invited to a long weekend at the Jersey Shore, where they are encouraged to rest, fellowship, and renew their spirits after the Lenten season. This time together includes communion on the beach, long walks on the beach, and plenty of opportunity for fellowship with colleagues.

This “Pilot Cohort” consisted of the pastors who were instrumental in shaping the Lilly Endowment, Inc Thriving in Ministry Grant which now funds the Cultivating Enough initiative for the presbytery for the next four years…
